Hiking The Appalachian Trail with Cooper!

Warriors Story:

My buddy and my service dog, Cooper was one day from being put down at a shelter. He was a stray that was rescued and donated to me through Explore.Org/DogBlessYouGrant Program to help me cope with day-to-day situations that “normal” people may take for granted. He does this through grounding and mindfulness techniques. Like Coop I was lost and alone, I believe this is why we have such a strong bond with each other. I too was lost and alone and we saved each other. Cooper will of course join me on our hike as I could not think of anyone else I would like to share this adventure with since he is my inspiration. Before Cooper and I became a team my days were spent at home in my garage isolating from my family and the rest of the world. I was so lost and alone. Cooper has given me the confidence to rejoin the world that I have become so fearful of. I am forever in his debt for being there for me. He never judges no matter what I tell him and he always lets me speak first! Not only does Coop absorb my anxiety but he absorbs the tears and turns them into unconditional love. I am forever in his debt.  Thank you for following me on my Trail to Recovery, your support means the world to me and Cooper! I hope you will find the updates enjoyable, educational and entertaining.

Team Updates

As you may have heard I fell on Tuesday between Cooper's Gap and Gooch Gap. I've been icing my left knee and it should be good to go for tomorrow's re-kickoff. There's a shuttle that will pick Coop and I up at the hotel at 10:00 am tomorrow and drop us at Neel Gap so we can catch up to the group we met earlier in the week. Thanks all for your prayers we are ready to hit the trail! Jesse &...Read More >>
